'00

"We've been out longer than we were in!" - That was one my scary realizations this past week and when I along with a couple 100 of my Class of 2000 colleagues celebrated our 5 year reunion on The Farm. All in all a lot and little has changed. We're all a little older and wiser (debateable) from the growing pains of our mid-twenties. Many of us are engaged or married (Quote from the weekend: "This reunion is about the diamonds, next reunion is about the babies."), others still doing there best rendition of "Melrose Place style" single life (Hammer said it not me). A lot of us back in school, a lot of us not. A lot of us starting our own businesses, a lot of us working for someone else's. Most of us looked the same - although my "new" straight hair did get some confusing looks and I did get one, "I didn't recognize you - I'm used to seeing you in workout clothes".

And, of course there were those who didn't make it out -- my favorite absentee of the reunion was of course "Good Will" Bruntlett who had games 1, 2 of the 2005 World Series to play - Go Astros! (Sorry, Borchard, it's a Class of '00 weekend!)

Of course it wouldn't be a true reunion weekend if CLK and I didn't try to combine as many things as possible into 36 hours - Joanies, dinner parties, late night rallies to the Nut House, class party 'til 1am, and 4 hours later a 5am wake-up call for the Nike half marathon. We had a good laugh weaving our way through the swarm of 15,000 people only to get to the starting line 10 seconds after the starter's gun went off for the 6:40am start - E.K on the sideline wondering how the heck he beat us to the start - only to see us busting through the crowd and sprinting to catch up with ladies who were 2 blocks down the dark San Francisco street. We caught up with Lisa and Maren and gabbed for the next 12 miles until the final hill where my legs had pretty much given up. CLK stuck with me and carried me through my longest run back since surgery/radiation and we crossed the line together...
