Rabble Rousers in Redding

Ya, I didn't know what a "Rabble Rousers" was either, but after over 500 miles of driving in a car of Impala's you learn a few new things . . .

As you may have heard the Impala's dominated this weekend in the Nor-Cal 10 miler, taking the overall and top Master's positions and with a (count'em) 1,2,3,4,5 suh-weep! we dominated the team results. But, you all could have gathered that information from the race results so here's what wasn't in print: We had some seriously gutsy performances out there today! Nelda, my hero, fought heat exhaustion and just one of those @$&#% days out there to get it done. It was a tough, hot race out there and she wasn't feelin' any love. Mile 4 she starts to call it a day and turn back for home, BUT, then she realizes if she finishes she can still score for the senior team. With the toughest 6 miles ahead of her, she pulled it together and finished. She even managed to motivate and pull several of her teammates up the hills. Bravo, girlfriend! Liz pushed herself to the limit, literally. The pollen infested course was the perfect recipe to rekindle her asthma. And while asthma and 10milers aren't friends, Liz was able to reconcile their differences long enough to cross the finish line. Brilliant! These are just a few of the stellar performances out there today. It was great to see so many Impala's representin'. Congratulations, ladies.

So, as you know, any road trip with the ladies includes some stories, episode(s) or adventure(s) that are worth mentioning. And with that, I would like to thank Brandon of Oxford Suites -Redding for my brand new Scooby-doo toothbrush that he went out and purchased at 11pm at Safeway and then personally, hand-delivered to our room. Cheers, mate. (Details on how this eventuated available in the next SBV trip or Tuesday's warm'up or with any "appropriate" brib, umm incentivised request).

Catch ya on the flip side ;)
